Last night capped an amazing 9 days of synchronicity; http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/synchronicity
It started the 1st of February, when, hours in advance, I decided I would leave the college library at 5:05. What do you know when later I checked my barely-used college e-mail to discover an e-mail from my aunt at 5:05. I think I may be forgetting another instance of synchronicity that I found noteworthy, but if so, it was relatively minor (as I suppose all of these are). Here they are:
--February 3rd, 9:05 pm: same as above, except it was my former roommate Henry at G-mail, who e-mails me every day (and to whom for the past 100 minutes I've been chatting with on G-mail.)
--Yesterday at 3:03pm I read a very nice e-mail from my friend Marko. About 1/2 an hour later I saw that one of my friends on Facebook "smiled" at me--at 3:03pm.
[Edit: I noticed Marko's previous e-mail was also signed 3:03 pm!]
---Last night I turned off my computer at 10:48pm. I awoke to see an e-mail from Henry at 10:48pm.

This has happened a few times now. Someone befriends me; I, in turn, (usually) befriend them; yet many times we are still not listed as mutual friends. I wondered if this is similar to the draw offer in chess, only in reverse. Sometimes one player feels they deserve to make the draw offer, so they will refuse their opponent's invitation only to proffer their own next move.
Anyhow, it can be deduced from my profile page that I was the one initiating most of the "friending". I used this strict criteria: searching for those interested in Достоевский and pretty much friending anyone with at least one other shared interest. Last week, however, I noticed that unlike searches conducted in English, the Russian ones are case-sensitive. Seeing as how I have no life, this meant I re-conducted the Достоевский search, as well as ALL my common interest searches, in lower case. Another thing: I also had the time to account for misspellings; i.e., "Bobby Fisher" [sic]. |

Another idea is "the good, the bad, and the ugly...
the beautiful and lofty ideal"
(with an emphasis on the beautiful since I'm tired of being so pessimistic)
Finally, I like "If you're not mad as hell, then you're not paying attention" and its many variants, but it has become a cliche.
